Jen Sanin

London / England

I picked up the bass at about 20, after which I hovered in and out of music but always ached at my incompetence, melted with envy at seeing musos noodling around effortlessly.

My own classical clarinet upbringing only made real playing feel literally impossible.

At age 26, I realised I'd never forgive myself if I didn't learn to understand and play music freely.

So I hunkered down and a few years later was fortunate enough to become session bassist for the indie rock band Spector and classic pop prodigy Oscar Lang.

Between tours and recordings, I play functions, background gigs, including sets on vocals and bass alongside some of my favourite London musicians. So lucky!
