I've loved the bass for years and have always wanted to play but always found
a reason 'not' to learn. A couple of years ago I just decided it was time to stop procrastinating
and just do it!
My first bass was a Dean Edge 1 that I bought second hand at the local music store.
My second bass is a Mexican Agave Fender jazz bass that I bought on eBay!
My third bass is a black Schecter Deluxe Diamond series bass.
And I recently traded in the Dean for what the store manager described as a 'late 80's
Japanese made' bass called a Ransom Elijah jazz bass. I've done a little research on
the web and 'Ransom' appears to be Dan Ransom, a luthier who has made custom guitars
and basses in San Francisco for the last 25 years (Joe Satriani is a client). My bass
(I'm playing it in the photo) is teal and has a big 'E' on it (presumably for
Elijah, but since my name is Elizabeth it seems fitting)it plays like a dream - fast
action, beautiful tones, perfect shape - just some belt buckle scratches on the back.
I think I got quite a steal for my $100 trade-in on the Dean and the other $100 that
I paid - $200 total for a custom vintage bass made by a well-known Bay Area luthier!
When not thinking about bass playing, I am a librarian by day at a major University.
I live in Santa Clara, California with my partner and our dog Gus. I also love photography,
my motorcycle and hockey!
Thanks for including me on your site.
