Urith Myree was born in Queens, New York and is now based on Long Island, New
York. Born into a family that appreciated music on every level, Urith was exposed to
many different artists and musical styles. At 7 years old she picked up the bass and
it has remained her chosen instrument. Her main influences are Stanley Clarke, John
Paul Jones, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton and Geddy Lee.
She was a member of One Step Beyond, who over the course of its existence (1990-2001)
received much praise and achieved accomplishments such as having their music featured
on over 100 radio stations internationally, the X-Games, two indie films and Howard
Stern. Their self-titled CD was produced by Grammy-nominated artist Joaquin Lievano.
She has also done session and live work for other local artists.
Currently, Myree plays with Dormitory Effect, an all-female Metal act featuring One
Step Beyond vocalist Susan Wendelken, former Perseverance guitarist Meredith Herrmann
and Neutron Cafe/Sympathetic Magic drummer Gee. Dormitory Effect has already played
the second Rockrgrl Conference in Seattle, NXNE in Toronto, Canada and a live performance
on Jim Breuer's radio show "Jim Breuer Unleashed". The band can be heard

Myree's gear consists of an SWR 350 head, a custom 2x15 cab, and POD effects unit.
She owns a five-string Ibanez BtB, a five-string Washburn, two four-string Peavey Dynabasses
and one 8-string Carlo Robelli. |
