I was 17, and Mark King was on TV, soloing for cheering fans. I was so much
impressed, I went to the music store, grabbed a 4-string-thing and started plucking.
The salesman was not cheering but he told me that the thing is called a bass
guitar and I needed a left hand version of it, I played upside down. So he sold me
one.
Schoolgrades were going downwards since that day, because the bass guitar got my attention
now.
The only school-option was the conservatorium, so I went there, enjoyed it very much,
and graduated in 1998. Over the years I developed an open mind to different styles
and different kinds of music. My bass playing got more basic and more to-the-point.
At the same time I've been looking for music that suits my soul the best. It
is a continuous journey. I prefer blues, funk, rock and soul. One day I will combine
it and give it a new name. In fact, any music that makes you dance, move or
head-bang is fun to play. Last couple of years I played with the Rotterdam ska
jazz foundation,
and dr. Ringding in Kingston Kitchen 809. It was great fun playing with them
across Europe in front of dancing people.
I do session work, I'm playing dutch rock with Takkedak and I write and play my own
songs.
