Nicolas Queiroz

Band: Old Shoe Box

Belo Horizonte / Brazil

First of all I would like to congratulate Arni for his brilhant idea and the opportunity to be part of LeftyBass.com. Keep the already good work my friend.

My name is Nicolas Queiroz, was born in 1979 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
I'm playing for almost 8 years right now. I came to California with a band called Old Shoe Box in the last March.

We played most rock with a little emo style in the guitars and vocals line. For a lot of reasons, i had to come to Connecticut, and left the band 2
months ago. I'm into a lot of music styles that goes from the traditional Ska ,to Soul and Rock Stuff. I build most of my bass lines from this weird
combination.

I played in a Ska/Soul band in Brazil called "Inflamavel" for some time. After that i was invited to join Old Shoe Box with the priority to come to
the US.

Here are some of my lifetime influences :
Everything from Tower of Power, James Brown and the (Groove Era). Aka . the 70's,Funkadelic,Motown Music, Chic just to name a few. The new wave
from the 80's also had a big influence in my playing .The Police was the band responsible for this, the Ska influenced rock music always worked out well.
The specials are one of my favorite's band with the Ska /Punk revolution thing
.
When I was starting to play i used to listen to almost everything from the 90's,the Seatle boom and the punk from the Ramones and the US Punk/Pop

Now a days I'm listening to Jeff Buckley amazing legacy and a new band from Manchester called Oceansize. I'm glad to be part of something that I
always looked for, Greetings for everybody in the whole world. Keep your eyes and ears open. Nick.

My equipment is a Japanese Fender 62 reissue with Bartolini pick ups and pre amp. I also had a Sterling Music Man that I bought in the year 2000 but sold
it a year ago. My first bass was a Yamaha RBX350, that I still play it . I'm using a hartke 4X10 XL series cabinet, combined with a Ampeg SVT 3-PRO that gives me everything i need in my sound.
