R.I.P.
Mick Karn
1958-2011
My name is Øivind Petersen and I live in Denmark. I was
born in 1967 in Copenhagen, and live in Grenaa. I started playing bass in 1986 and
fretless in 89 and I have been trying ever since.
Players I admire and listen to:
Percy Jones.
Pino Palladino. (early stuff)
Guy Pratt.
Steve Greetham. (Annabel Lamb)
Derek Forbes. (Simple Minds)
Paul Webb. (Talk Talk)
And many many others.
I started playing to records with Joy Division, Spandau Ballet, Killing Joke, Roxy
Music, Duran Duran, Wolfgang Press, Cabaret Voltaire, Danse Society, Japan and the
Cure. My favorite player is Mick Karn. He was, without a doubt, the most interesting
fretless bass player ever. Try the Dalis Car album "The waking hour" and
you will know why he is my favorite.
