I grew up in Las Vegas NV where I started playing the trombone in school. I was
into big band music and was playing in marching band, jazz band, etc... I met some
guys my age in high school who played in our jazz band at school and said let's start
a band, and since I was
already reading bass clef, the bass was a natural transition. So I went out and got
my Beatle Bass (you guys know it's a lefty thing) and the rest is history.
I've been playing in bands for 20 years now and don't regret one minute of it. I'm
currently back in Las Vegas playing with "The Vegas Blues Kings" and we're
playing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers and it's great to be
playing those challenging wanderin' bass lines. I also play bass at Central Christian
Church for about 12,000 members, and it's really rewarding(if you're going to live
in Sin City you gotta be on good terms with the Lord). |
