Udo started playing bass-guitar on the age of 14. He studied bass guitar at the
Amsterdam Conservatory. After finishing his Bachelors Degree in jazz music, he
graduated in June 2003 from the masters program at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
In 1999 (during his study) he founded the trio Isotope together with piano player Rob
van Bavel and drummer Bas Cornelissen. They played on many venues and even on national
television. Isotope released two cd's: Isotope (Via-records 1999) and Perception of
the Beholder (Munich Records 2002).
In September 2002 he started Daily Talk, a recording-project featuring excellent singer
Jeroen Manuhutu. His latest jazz project is called Pitch Pine Project, featuring some
of the best jazz musicians in the Netherlands. In 2004 their first album "Quarantine"
(mostly with Udo's compositions on it) came out and got some very good reviews. The
played at the North Sea Jazz festival in 2005.
In 2004 he also joined the Timucin Sahin Trio. Playing a lot in Turkye.
Udo plays six-string frettles and fretted bass. His basses are custom made by Piet
Visser. Not only does Udo play bass in several groups, he's also a teacher and he is
also to be found in the studio as a producer/engineer for jazz and pop-productions.
Beside all his recording activities, Udo plays on many stages and venues. |
