A few day ago I got this email from Thomas Wictor and I would like to share it with you:

Hi, Arni:
You and I corresponded a few times over the years. I used to write for Bass Player magazine.
I recently admitted to myself that I can't play bass anymore because of arthritis, so I wanted to commemorate my best performance as a bassist. I've posted my first and last video on YouTube, and I invite you to watch. It's like an Irish wake, in which everyone celebrates the happy memories of the dead instead of being sad. I'm not sad; I had a fantastic time playing and being part of the bass community.
The bass is an Ernie Ball MusicMan Sting Ray, built for me by a Japanese luthier using the right-handed neck, pickup, and bridge, because Ernie Ball did not offer left-handed basses at the time.
So, I'd like to thank all bassists everywhere, especially all left-handed bassists. I had a wonderful time playing for over 20 years.

Best regards,
Thomas Wictor

Reminder!

01.April 2012

Hello fellow Left-handers happy new year!,

My name is Patrick Clarke a Left-handed bass player here in sunny Great Britain.
I am organising a Left-handed bassist get together in

Warwick ( near Birmingham UK ) on Sunday the 1st of April.

The idea is to get as many of our basses together in one room, to possibly see basses that we would rarely see normally ( a few tasty rigs too!) .

We have the Bass Direct and Bass gear guys possibly coming along too!

Notes of interest to attend please email me on patch.006@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks to Ani for the great site, hope to see some of you soon.

Regards
Patch

24.01.2012

Stolen from a car in St. Paul, Minnesota the night of July 28th 2011.

Lefty Warwick Streamer Stage 1, AAAA flame maple body wings, neck through, wenge fingerboard, new Warwick 2 piece gold bridge, old Warwick gold control knobs, sticky pots from tung oil seepage, bone nut, gold Warwick tuning pegs.

When I bought this bass it had a broken neck at the base of the headstock, I repaired it myself as shown in the image. Obviously one of a kind due to the serial number, the uniqueness of the maple grain, and several other identifying characteristics.

Possible negotiable reward if this bass is returned to me in good condition. Please contact me at markv2005@mac.com or Officer Day at the St. Paul police department.

Thank you.

Who has not dreamed about it, to use a bass kit and even be creative?

Now I will try to create a realy good bass with this bass kit. It´s an experiment and experience for all those who are intresting in such guitar and bass kits.

I will report each stepp for you.

Vol. 1
The kit arrives and makes a solid impression. Only the cheapest variety of pickups are included. A used set of EMG pickups is ordered.
First Bass Kit 135, - €
Second EMG PJ pickups, used: 50, - €
Cost so far: 185, - €

The next step will be a professional finish. Who has no idea about the painting should leave this job to a professional. The result will be to see the next update. I will ship body and neck to the German luthier Ralf Börjes.

Thomas Wernemann

did a presentation of a tube bass amp this month.

I know Thomas very well, so I will point you to this upcomming bass amp!

That´s what Thomas Wernemann said (sorry, it´s only in German):

This is a picture of the Chris Jennings and Fritz Jochems meeting in Beglium! Two lefty double bass players, and both are members of this website! That´s what Frits wrote:

Hallo Arni

Hubert Döring and his brand new Marleaux Consat bass!

Just picked up at the Gerald Marleaux workshop some hours before.

Hubert did a brake on the way back home here in Bielefeld to

show me his beautyful bass!

What a great sounding and

phantastic looking bass!!!

Last but not least!

The 4th Lefty Bass Day on 22.September 2012!

The Lefty Bassist Highlight this year!!!

"The Jethro Tull Bourée Performance!"

What´s that???

It an open stage for lefty bassplayers (if you like, play with your guitarplayer, keyboarder, or solo...) to perform

Jethro Tull´s bass solo from "Bourée" or the complete song with supporting musicians. (like this)

So start practicing on the bass in these dreary winter days and learn Bourée! Hope we will have a lot of fun!!

I'm looking forward to your performances!

That's it for today. I must go now, doing my exercisesstarted on bass.

Any questions? Please don´t hesitate to ask me: ArniBi@gmx.net

Best wishes from your old friend

Arni
